As a Cape Town – based lifestyle photographer, I’m continually drawn to projects that balance strong visual direction with a sense of ease and play.
This recent campaign for Jazz Apples was a natural fit - a vibrant, high-energy lifestyle product shoot designed to translate a fresh, modern fruit brand into imagery that feels both dynamic and considered.
Set against the textured backdrop of the Cape Winelands, the intention was to create a visual language that feels bold, colourful, and effortlessly engaging. Working closely with Hatch Communications, the brief centred on crafting imagery that feels fresh and impactful, while maintaining a refined, editorial quality.
My approach as a lifestyle photographer is to move beyond traditional product imagery and instead capture moments that feel lived-in and expressive. Through a focus on colour, movement, and natural interaction, the goal was to position Jazz Apples not simply as a product, but as part of a broader, aspirational lifestyle.
Spice Route Paarl offered the perfect setting for this — its rich textures, architectural detail, and vibrant palette creating a layered, versatile backdrop that elevated the playfulness of the campaign while grounding it in a distinctly South African context.
A large part of my work centres around capturing authenticity — those in-between moments that feel unforced and real. By working with both adult and child talent, we were able to create imagery that feels spontaneous and full of life, allowing the audience to connect with the work on a more emotional level.
Equally important is the collaborative energy on set. When each element — from styling to lighting — is aligned, it allows for a seamless creative flow and a cohesive final result that feels both elevated and intentional.
