As a Cape Town wedding photographer, I’ve been lucky enough to witness countless love stories unfold in breathtaking settings—but Chelsea & Gennaro’s wedding at La Cotte in Franschhoek was something else entirely. A true season finale that felt like a cinematic closing scene: emotional, beautiful, and utterly unforgettable.

A Ceremony Shifted, but No Less Sacred

When the rain came down harder than expected, the ceremony was swiftly relocated to the covered terrace—a last-minute change that somehow made it even more special. Under shelter, surrounded by their nearest and dearest, Chelsea & Gennaro exchanged vows in a space that felt cozy, emotional, and deeply personal. The ceremony was officiated by Gennaro’s sister, adding an extra layer of warmth and meaning. You could feel the love from every corner of that terrace—proof that sometimes the most unexpected moments create the most unforgettable memories.

open skies, Bold Blooms, and a Perfect Pause

A brief window of clear skies allowed us a chance to capture some of my favourite portraits in front of Fleur le Cordeur’s signature floral masterpiece—an explosion of texture and colour that set the perfect tone for the rest of the day. Then, as the skies darkened once more, we headed inside, where warmth, love, and candlelight took over.

The Enchantment of La Cotte

Tucked away in the heart of Franschhoek, La Cotte is a venue that feels like a well-kept secret—equal parts grand and grounded, historic and serene. Surrounded by ancient oak trees and sweeping vineyard views, it offers a setting that’s both naturally beautiful and effortlessly elegant. The charm of the manor house, the dappled light filtering through the trees, and the rich sense of heritage create a kind of quiet magic that’s hard to describe but impossible to forget. It was the perfect canvas for Chelsea & Gennaro’s celebration—romantic, timeless, and entirely their own.

Bridal Style: Two Dresses, One Effortless Muse

Let’s talk about Chelsea. A bride with impeccable style and the kind of grace that’s effortless, never forced. She began the day in an iconic Vivienne Westwood gown—classic, sculptural, and full of presence. Later, she changed into a flowing Paula Nadal satin dress paired with a dreamy crochet veil (and yes, Manolo Blahniks, of course). Her look was modern yet timeless, editorial but personal.

And Gennaro? Dapper, polished, and so clearly smitten. The way he looked at Chelsea said everything—no words needed. Together, they radiated the kind of love that’s been growing since their teenage years. It’s rare to witness something so rooted, so sure.

The entourage

A Celebration Full of Feeling

The day was planned and beautifully coordinated by Amy York Events, who managed every shift in weather with calm expertise. From the elegant reception setup by Scape Events, to the flawless service by Pepa Events Staffing, every detail was intentional. As you stepped into the reception, a wave of florals hit you—Heike from Fleur le Cordeur created a breathtaking installation that felt like an ocean of petals, rolling from the tables to the floor in soft, pastel tones. Hydrangeas took center stage, accompanied by layers of texture and delicate seasonal blooms, creating an immersive floral landscape that felt both luxurious and dreamlike. The food by Annalize Catering and Chef Ollie was exceptional, the kind that lingers in your memory long after the last bite. And don’t even get me started on the cake by Blos Bakery—a piece of art in itself.

As the evening unfolded, we stole a few final moments with Chelsea for what we called our “late-night flower shoot.” It was spontaneous and low-key, the kind of session that reminds me why I love what I do. One last quiet moment before wrapping up a truly special day—and season.
